Liga_PostobonDeportivo Cali climbed to the Colombian Primera A summit after Deportes Tolima dropped points over the weekend.

A 90th-minute goal from Juan Cabezas handed Cali a dramatic 1-0 win over Junior at the Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero on Sunday.

With the match petering out for a draw, Cabezas headed home powerfully from a corner in the first minute of injury time as Cali claimed their third consecutive win.

That win was enough to see Cali move a point clear at the summit with 14 points from seven rounds despite Tolima overturning a three-goal deficit to salvage a 3-3 draw against nine-man Once Caldas.

Tolima were in deep trouble at half-time on Sunday after they conceded three goals during the opening 45 minutes.

Johan Arango’s brace and a goal from Sergio Romero had the visiting side on track for a routine victory at the Estadio Manuel Murillo.

Liga_PostobonOnce Caldas’ first loss of the Colombian Primera A season led to Deportes Tolima climbing to the top of the table.

Alianza Petrolera’s 1-0 win at home to Once Caldas opened the door for Deportes Tolima, whose draw against Atletico Nacional was enough to send them top.

Alberto Gamero’s Deportes Tolima moved a point clear after the 1-1 draw at home.

Despite the hosts being on the back foot through the first half, Davinson Monsalve put them ahead with a scrappy goal following a corner in the 40th minute.

A powerful 51st-minute penalty from Edwin Cardona saw 10th-placed Atletico Nacional take a share of the spoils.

Patriotas Boyaca and Deportes Tolima were among the winners as Colombia’s Primera A Clausura campaign kicked off on the weekend.

Christian Subero, Carlos Rivas and Jonathan Estrada helped Patriotas Boyaca to a comfortable 3-0 victory over 10-man Deportivo Pasto on Friday, while Deportes Tolima accounted for Uniautonoma 2-0 on Sunday.

Patriotas Boyaca stormed out of the blocks at the Estadio de La Independencia with two goals inside the opening three minutes from Subero and Rivas.

The result was put beyond doubt two minutes short of the hour-mark courtesy of Estrada before the visiting team were reduced to 10 men following Eder Ruales’ second yellow card.
